The season gives you the perfect opportunity to play around with colours, textures, prints, and designs just before the arrival of the bulky winter jacket season. Now, although 2020 has been quite the eventful year (to say the least), we can’t deny the trendy fashion moments that have entered the industry. Check out my 5 favourite fall fashion trends of 2020 that are absolutely flawless for this spooky season.
1. Cardigan Sets
Yes, cardigans are back IN the game, but this time with an unusual twist. Usually anything too matchy-matchy is a fashion no-no, but this 2020 fashion trend is worth breaking the rules. A matching set with your favorite pair of denim jeans is a quick and simple outfit idea.
However, don’t forget that just because this combo is technically a set, it doesn’t mean that you can’t mix and match it with other items in your closet for an experimental look.
2. Faux Fur
No, don’t worry – I am certainly not talking about the ‘teddy’ coat from 2018/2019. This year, the faux fur has come in small details elevating the ensemble with a little bit more style. This striking mix of genres is chic, yet cozy and brings out the perfect feminine touch to the fall season.
Trust me, the fabric has the same impression as the real thing. Yet this one is animal-friendly and a total showstopper.
3. Faux Leather
Much like faux fur, faux leather pieces have been the ultimate ‘cool girl’ aesthetic. Using any cropped or thin layered tank top underneath, this bold look can be both casual and dressy. I love styling my leather pants with white sneakers, a soft toned t-shirt, and a leather jacket to match that comfortable yet stylish finish. As well, my leather oversized blazer pairs beautifully with light washed jeans and a white t-shirt underneath.

4. Sweater Vests
All hail the best new layering item in your wardrobe, ‘the sweater vest’. This trend has invoked gender neutrality, and has emerged as a staple following years of casual influence and design. Although this piece of clothing has had a rough reputation in the past, it has seem to come back for a second chance, as celebrities and fashion influencers have absolutely adored this item in its true natural form.
This business casual attire can be paired up with a button down dress shirt (as seen in the photograph above) with dark denim jeans or dress pants depending on the focused look.
5. Oversized Blazers
Exit the slightly too fitted blazer, we would much rather prefer the oversized version of this iconic masculine classic, right?. My favourite way to style this trendy piece during the fall time is with a pair of long biker shorts, white sneakers, chunky hoop earrings, and a belt bag to tie the look together.
